Stainless Steel 446 Stud Bolts are made from a high-chromium ferritic stainless steel alloy. This alloy typically contains 23–27% chromium and has low carbon content. This composition offers excellent resistance to scaling, oxidation, and corrosion at high temperatures. Mechanically, they provide a tensile strength of about 450–550 MPa and good creep strength. This makes them suitable for long-term use in high-temperature conditions. While they are not as ductile as austenitic grades, SS 446 maintains its structural integrity during thermal cycling. It is also non-hardenable by heat treatment, which adds to its stability in extreme environments.
