Stainless Steel 348 Pipe Fittings are made from an austenitic stainless steel alloy that is stabilized with columbium (niobium). This alloy includes about 17 to 19% chromium and 9 to 13% nickel. The stabilization helps prevent carbide precipitation during welding, which improves resistance to intergranular corrosion. The alloy also has great mechanical properties, with tensile strength between 515 and 720 MPa and good resistance to creep at high temperatures. Furthermore, SS 348 provides strong resistance to oxidation and keeps its toughness and ductility even in tough thermal environments, making it suitable for high-temperature piping applications.
